Nos réponses à vos questions
Collapsible content
Which bottle should I choose for a baby with reflux?
Choose an anti-reflux bottle with a special shape designed to limit air intake, ideally with a physiological nipple, to help reduce spit-up.
How to give the bottle to avoid reflux?
Slightly tilt the bottle to limit air intake during feeding.
Take regular breaks so your baby can breathe between sips.
Be careful: above 37°C (98.6°F), any liquid in the bottle may cause burns. Always check the temperature.
What is AR milk?
AR milk is a thickened formula specially designed to reduce reflux in babies who suffer from spit-up or GERD. It contains natural thickeners such as carob or starch, which help increase its consistency.
Which bottle should I choose for AR milk?
Choose an anti-reflux bottle with an appropriate nipple and flow rate that allows thicker AR milk to pass through easily during feeding.
Why does my baby spit up?
Spit-up in babies is often linked to the immaturity of their digestive system during the first few months of life. The muscle between the stomach and the esophagus, called the lower esophageal sphincter, is still developing in infants. Its role is to keep stomach contents inside the stomach.
In babies, this sphincter may be less effective, allowing small amounts of milk to flow back up into the esophagus, leading to spit-up.
Additionally, the muscles of the digestive system can take time to strengthen, which also contributes to frequent spit-up.
In most cases, spit-up is normal and not a major concern. However, if it becomes excessive or is accompanied by signs of discomfort or distress, it is best to consult a pediatrician to rule out any underlying issues.
Why are more babies being diagnosed with reflux (GERD)?
External factors such as feeding and positioning during feedings can contribute to reflux (GERD). Some experts also suggest that environmental and lifestyle factors may increase the risk of reflux in infants.
Fortunately, many of these factors can be adjusted to help reduce the risk of reflux.
What’s the difference between thickened milk and AR milk?
AR milk is specifically thickened to help reduce reflux, unlike standard thickened milk.
Which AR milk doesn’t cause colic?
AR milk is designed to minimize the risk of spit-up in babies. To further reduce colic, it’s best to choose a formula labeled “CA” on the packaging.
Which nipple flow is best for AR milk?
As mentioned above, you should choose a nipple flow suited to the thicker consistency of AR milk, usually a medium or fast flow, depending on your baby.
