A few weeks ago, we ran a small survey on our Instagram account (@elhee_us) to collect your stories about your strangest cravings during pregnancy, and you did not fail to make us laugh. From sauerkraut to Kiri cheese dipped in chocolate yogurt, or even fried camembert for breakfast... Here is the ranking of your funniest cravings! But where do they actually come from?
No study has been able to definitively prove the precise causes of these food "urges." However, several scientists agree that our bodies are naturally aware of their nutritional needs, and this sense may be heightened during pregnancy due to hormonal changes that can trigger these infamous unusual cravings.
Candy, sauerkraut, and pickles were the most common, but here is a small selection of your responses...
Julie: "Raw meat all the time, even though I’m a vegetarian..."
Carole: "Pickles, pickles, and more pickles"
Aurélia: "Tabbouleh rolled in a slice of ham"
Clothilde: "Endive salad EVERY DAY. Fortunately, my daughter doesn’t have an endive-shaped head :)"
Amalia: "Candy, the most artificial possible! (like gummy crocodiles)"

Eugénie: "Kebabs with harissa... which I have never eaten again since"

Virginie: "Meat from morning to night (just the thought disgusts me now)"
Alexandra: "For Adam, I ate cabbage (from sauerkraut) for 3 months"
