We've already discussed food diversification and have even talked about BLW, "Baby-Led Weaning." For little ones seeking independence, BLW encourages discovery and stimulates development of all 5 senses. But have you ever considered that a bottle could also stimulate your child's senses ? This is one of the main advantages of a medical-grade silicone bottle. Find out why!
Choosing a bottle: a matter of taste
You've probably noticed that your baby, from the very first months, expresses preferences whenever possible. For example, babies fed with formula don't like all types equally. If you have changed formula recently and your baby is taking their bottle less willingly, it may simply be because they dislike the taste of the new formula.
Didn't change anything? Take a look at the nipple of the bottle. If it's made of rubber, its smell can bother your child. Likewise, a glass bottle can be too cold, and a worn nipple might feel too rough. These factors can disrupt your baby's senses and their feeding experience.
Sensory awakening doesn't wait for diversification
Your child's five senses help them discover the world around them—sounds, smells, and soon colors. While mealtimes are essential for sensory stimulation, you don’t have to wait until solids are introduced to get started. In fact, this is where the Élhée revolution begins.
The silicone bottle: ergonomic, sensory, and emotional for your baby
To support and enrich the sensory bubble that surrounds your baby from birth, Élhée has chosen to design and create a silicone bottle that is both ergonomic in your hands and theirs, sensory in their mouth and under their fingers, as well as emotional thanks to its deeply feminine-inspired curves.
The silicone bottle preserves taste
Whether formula or breast milk, our bibRond is just as suitable for powdered milk as it is for breast milk if you practice mixed feeding. The physiological silicone nipples it comes with are flavorless. They preserve the taste, while delivering your baby's milk preparation at more or less a slow flow. In the same way, the silicone body of the bibRond does not alter the drink's taste.
Tip: if you're breastfeeding your baby, the foods you eat will alter the flavor of your breast milk. Your baby's meal, whether taken at the breast or by bottle, becomes a true sensory experience to share — sometimes, you'll even see glimpses of their own preferences.
The silicone bottle does not disturb the sense of smell
Tip: when switching bottles or nipples, place a few drops of your milk on the new nipple. The familiar and well-loved smell of milk will help your baby become comfortable with the new object.
The silicone bottle feels pleasant to the touch
Newborns can't (yet) play with their food. However, for a healthy bottle with a unique feel, Élhée chose an innovative material. Here again, medical-grade silicone makes all the difference. With its soft, delicate “peach skin” texture, it sparks curiosity and allows babies to exercise their sense of touch from the youngest age.
Tip: during feeding, place your baby's hand between yours and the surface of the bibRond so they can discover its texture, get used to it, and easily recognize it at each future feeding.
The shape of the silicone bottle stimulates vision
After birth, babies quickly learn to recognize their mother's face as she leans over them. Her mouth, her smile, her eyes—everything about her brings feelings of pleasure and happiness. To support this feeling of well-being, Élhée set out to design an iconic silicone bottle, instantly recognizable at a glance. For this, we took inspiration from the nurturing breast, with its inviting curves and reassuring shape, to bring our bibRond to life.
Tip: with the first bottles of milk using the bibRond, don’t hesitate to associate its roundness with that of your chest, for example, by practicing skin-to-skin contact at every feeding.
The bottle: a bonding moment for discovering sounds
Even in your belly, your baby can hear everything—sounds, music... and with some practice, especially through haptonomy, can even learn to react to the sound of your voice. After birth, your words become the most beautiful melody for them. To support this, and not disturb your baby, we chose a soft material that dampens sound. That’s how the Élhée silicone bottle was born!
Tip: on days when your baby is reluctant to take the bottle, or seems distracted or upset, try talking or singing a little song to get their attention. Together, you can also gently stroke the soft body of the bibRond, until you both find calm again.
Re-enchanting the milk-feeding experience
For a mother, nothing is more beautiful than feeding her child, watching them eat and enjoy each meal. So, when a bottle isn't finished, or if a nipple isn’t accepted, or there are tears or infant colic...it can lead to questions and sometimes even worry. The Élhée medical-grade silicone bottle and its anti-colic physiological nipple help prevent these types of concerns and also ensure milk is perfectly preserved, whether breast milk or formula, for a truly enchanted milk-feeding experience.
